Floor Pillows Keep Growing
The role of pillows keeps evolving. When I was a child, my favorite toy was not actually a toy, but my Peanuts cartoon pillow case. The images of Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang covered both sides of this seemingly typical pillow covering. Lots of people may laugh at a kid’s novelty pillow. However, I knew it had secret powers. Every time I put a lost tooth under this pillow case, the Tooth Fairy always came with money during the night as I slept. It may sound corny, but to a young boy I could not imagine a more valuable item in my possession. Now my own children love to play on huge floor pillows.
If you haven't seen these things yet, just go into any full line furniture store and look in the kid's sections. They have become more and more popular. Most have sports teams logos on them, but now girls are also getting into the act with Barbie and other such prints. Most of the time my kids use them for reading in a corner of the room. It is pretty easy to squish tehm in the corner. My oldest daughter still uses hers after almost 4 years.
One of the hardest aspects though is getting them cleaned. It is best to remove the case and wash it alone, because it is so big. If you have a large bed, you know what I mean. We put a sheet over it when the cover is washed, as my kids do not like to have to wait to sit on theirs too long. They are also handy for sleepover if the kids are young enough. If you are thinking about buying a large floor pillow, just make sure the room will not get cluttered and it will get use.
